Battlestar? Where did this Battlestar designation come from? From the evidence it is clearly far too small and underpowered to be a battlestar. It also got its fighters from other ships and had to create a vacum in its hangar to let raptors in/out. It is also tiny compared to basestars and and completely outgunned. If anything this ship is similar to a frigate or destroyer, but a battlestar it is not. A much larger stronger ship the Loki is clearly identified as a heavy-cruiser and not a battlestar so this smaller ship is not either. [[User:VARGR|VARGR]] 12:08, 23 November 2012 (EST)

:: My theory is she's an older design, created before the outbreak of hostilities with the Cylons, and was pressed into service for the War. Serge Greystone's old Twitter account did say the Colonials used the designation before the onset of the War, however, I do not know if the BSG Wiki treats it has a canon source.

::: I'm going to agreed that I don't think that the Osiris should be a Battlestar. Now for the arms patch, maybe the Battlestar Osiris and the Osiris-Orion Class are two different ships. Since the Colonial Fleet was creating a Ghost Fleet maybe some of the personal was save from the Battlestar Osiris and was taking to the Osiris-Orion Class. Also, since arm patches from the series have mistake i.e. Triton'a arm patch maybe it simple a mistake.

:::Also, we know that Battlestar used 2 number, i.e. 75, 61, 41, etc to show Battlestar Group. However, Osiris have 4 number 0913 suggest it either not a Battlestar are don't followed the normal number system. It could be a pre-Revolt design but that would mean that Battlestar is simple the Colonial term for Capital ship. However, if that is correct, then that would be like someone calling a Frigate a capital ship, which in my opinion it is not. Also it the Loki is Heavy Cruiser, and the Berzerk an Escort, then why is the Osiris - smaller than both vessel a Battlestar? Because even if it was a Battlestar before the war broke out, would they not reclassify it to bring it into current standard? I.e. how the USN Navy reclassify several ships because of the 'cruiser gap' with the USSR.

:::Plus, looking at the Osiris arm patch, it have BSG and then two number I can't make out, which suggest that Osiris is part of Battlestar Group but don't have the same number on it hull unlike other Battlestar i.e. Galactica.

:::I suggest that we should referred to the Osiris as a warship, and a Orion Class Warship instead of a Battlestar. :::::::::I disagreed with Phalanx-a-pedian and he is wrong. The Valkyire is not a Galactica-type Battlestar. Because when they are talking, Adama is looking up toward the Valkyrie-type that is above Raptor 909. At no time does he look to the side to where the unnamed Galactica-type Battlestar is located. The last shot we seen of the Raptor and 2 Vipers show then almost beside the Berzek, which is blocking the unnamed Galactica-type Battlestar. Then it show the cockpit and Adama is looking up and talking about the Valkyrie. I think it make more sense to assumed that the Valkyrie is the same class till evidence present it not.

:::::::::I disagreed with Phalanx-a-pedian and he is wrong. The Valkyire is not a Galactica-type Battlestar. Because when they are talking, Adama is looking up toward the Valkyrie-type that is above Raptor 909. At no time does he look to the side to where the unnamed Galactica-type Battlestar is located. The last shot we seen of the Raptor and 2 Vipers show then almost beside the Berzek, which is blocking the unnamed Galactica-type Battlestar. Then it show the cockpit and Adama is looking up and talking about the Valkyrie. I think it make more sense to assumed that the Valkyrie is the same class till evidence present it not.

Also, the title of the page shouldn't be Valkyrie (Second Cylon War) as the recon mission happen before the start of the Second Cylon War. Maybe it should be either Valkyrie or Valkyrie (Valkyrie-type Battlestar).

Studies on the planet have Colonial scientists thinking that Ragnar was originally a member of the Helios Gamma system, while Ophion was not. Scientists think that Ophion was a rouge planet that passed close to Ragnar and was caught by the star, pushing Ragnar into its current orbit around the entire Gamma/Delta system.

This system is unique in the fact that Aerilon, Hestia, and Canceron share the same orbit. The planets sit comfortably in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagrangian_point Lagrangian Points], meaning that the gravitational pull of Helios Delta and Hestia are balanced, allowing two smaller bodies (Aerilon and Canceron) to share the same orbit in a "fixed" position, maintaining the same distance apart at all times. Aerilon sits at the L4 point, and Canceron at the L5 point.

* [[Ragnar]] - A gas giant with a diameter of 138,000 km, orbits the entire Helios Gamma and Delta system in a 899.75 year period. It sits about 110 SU away from the central barycenter. The Colonials use the planet as host to [[Ragnar Anchorage]], an orbital refueling station and naval armory that distills hydrocarbons from the planet's upper atmosphere. It has one moon, Sigurd. During the Fall of the Colonies, Ragnar was used as cover by the Battlestar ''[[Galactica]]'', and later her [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]], after escaping the destruction of Caprica. It would be the last world of the Cyrannian system that most of the surviving Colonials would lay eyes on. Of the original 50 billion inhabitants, only about 55,000 survive the first days of the holocaust. Most of them leave the Colonies behind in two small [[The Fleet (RDM)|fugitive fleets]]. Caprica was a lush blue-green planet, covered by large oceans and continents. It shares its orbit with Gemenon around a common barycenter, and can often be seen in the skies above the Caprican landscape. Depending on its orbit, the Caprican night can almost be negated by intense planetshine from Gemenon, although not as bright as the Caprican sun, there is enough light reflected back to effectively turn night into day ([[TRS]]: [[You Can't Go Home Again]], [[Litmus]]). Of curious note, Caprica features landmasses similar to a world the Colonials would eventually settle and come to call Earth.

Caprica was regarded as the center of Colonial civilization, even long before the [[First Cylon War]]. [[Graystone Industries]] was one of the Colonies' most influential technology developers and had a hand in creating the very [[U-87|first Cylons]]. Some 60 years before [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|the Fall]], Caprica was also plagued by [[Soldiers of the One | religiously]] motivated terrorism ([[CAP]]: [[Caprica pilot|Pilot]]). After the war, the planet was once again the seat of politics, culture, art, science, learning and even the Colonial government. It was also one of the wealthiest colonies ([[TRS]]: "[[Epiphanies]]", "[[Dirty Hands]]").

During the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|Cylon attack]], Caprica and it's surrounding airspace, played host to numerous skirmishes, one of which would eventually determine the outcome of the war. Caprica herself, comes under heavy attack from Cylon forces right from the start. With numerous basestars jumping directly into orbit, they are quickly able to gain the upper hand. At least four [[Battlestar (RDM)|battlestars]], including the ''Yashuman'' and ''Valkyrie'', are quickly dispatched, and numerous targets, including the once proud Caprica City, are annihilated from orbit by nuclear weapons ([[TRS]]: [[Miniseries]], "[[The Plan]]"). The attacks leave the civilian shipping lanes in the vicinity of Caprica/Gemenon shut down, but the civilian ships are relatively ignored in the opening moments of the attack, in favor of military targets. This gives them time to gather and flee the area, picking up other survivors along the way. Eventually the fleet amasses over 100 ships of all kinds, both civilian and homeless military support craft. However, only 75 FTL capable ships are able to flee Caprican airspace, leaving the sub-lights, and their passengers, at the hands of the Cylons.

At the time of the attack, the ''Galactica'' was positioned 3 hours away, and was not able to partake in the defense of its home planet. It wasn't long, however, before the Cylons located its position, and attempted to take it out. After being struck by a nuclear warhead, suffering major damage, and not having anything to shoot with, but still in one piece, the ''Galactica'' had no choice but to retreat to the relative safety of the gas giant, [[Ragnar]] ([[TRS]]: [[Miniseries]]), leaving Caprica, and the remaining survivors, completely defenseless and on their own.

After the space-faring Colonials flee, Caprica is occupied by [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon forces]], attempting to undo the damage they've done, and colonize the planet themselves. They often clash with [[Caprica resistance|human survivors]] within the Colonies, and fight on this world for several weeks. The occupation and resistance both end roughly nine months after the attack and the planet is left for good ([[TRS]]: "[[33]]", "[[Resistance]]", "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]", "[[The Plan]]").

6,250 people from Caprica join the [[Laura Roslin faction]] over [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Home, Part I]]"). The overall Caprican survivor population, possibly significantly greater, is unknown (see analysis [[The Fleet (RDM)#Demographics|here]]). An attempted settlement by the survivors of the holocaust is named [[New Caprica]] in honor of the original colony ([[TRS]]: "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]").

Some 800 years before [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|the Fall]] Tauron was colonized by [[#Virgon|Virgon]] and [[#Leonis|Leonis]]. Nearly a century before its Fall, Tauron was one of the poorer colonial worlds and the center of a [[Tauron Civil War|civil war]]. A few years before the [[First Cylon War]], the crime syndicate [[Ha'la'tha]] had enormous influence over the planet, which even extended to other colonies, such as [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] ([[CAP]]: [[Caprica pilot|Pilot]]).

During the War, [[Hypatia]] was was the location of a [[Battle of Tauron|fierce and lossy battle]] against [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon forces]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Razor]]", extended Edition).

After the War, Tauron was known to be a somewhat troublesome colony within the [[Government of the Twelve Colonies|federal system]] of the Colonies, often disobeying directives decided by the colonies and pushing their luck with the admiralty ([[TRS]]: "[[Hero]]"). Yet this world was counted among the wealthier of the twelve worlds ([[TRS]]: "[[Dirty Hands]]").

Once an honorable member of the [[Quorum of Twelve (TOS)|Quorum]] prior to its obliteration by the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylons]], [[Sire]] '''Uri''' degraded into moral indecency, becoming a vestige of the man he once was.

[[Adama (TOS)|Adama]] thought highly of the man, as he was a thoughtful and moral spirit during his early days. However, power and fame have corrupted his moral and ethical standings, as well as physical appearance.

[[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] and [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]] happen upon Sire Uri upon the starliner ''[[Rising Star (TOS)|Rising Star]]'', where he and a party of guests are gorging on deposits of horded food untouched by the [[pluton poisoning]] affecting most of the other ships of the [[The Fleet (TOS)|Fleet]]. When Apollo queries the Quorum member of the whereabouts of his wife ([[Siress Uri]]), he replied with somewhat shrouded mirth that she had not been able to make the voyage, as he continued his appreciation of his younger and decidedly aesthetically pleasing female companions.

While Apollo and Boomer manage to distribute Uri's food (appropriated with no willing assistance from Uri) throughout the famished survivors within [[The Fleet (TOS)|The Fleet]], Uri rallies members of the Quorum of the Twelve in an attempt to undermine Adama's authority. Uri goes so far as to support a dangerous plan to take out the Cylon mine field by Apollo, Adama's own son, to spite Adama.

After the Fleet crosses Cylon-laid minefield to [[Carillon]], Uri decides to push his own plan forward. He believes if the remaining Colonial's ability to wage war is inhibited, then the Cylons would no longer see humanity as a threat. In order to carry out his plan, he awards the three pilots that lead the Fleet to safety—Captain Apollo and Lieutenants [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]] and [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]]—with the Quorum's highest award. During this ceremony, Uri planned to announce his plan to the Fleet's citizens, who were sure to agree since they had enjoyed the luxuries that were bestowed upon them by the [[Ovions]].

However, Cylon intervention proves Uri's plan would never work. Apollo and Starbuck storm into the main hall with the Cylons (in collusion with the carnivorous Ovions) nipping at their heels. Uri's protests are instantly quieted as his life becomes endangered ([[Saga of a Star World]]).

* The whereabouts of Sire Uri after "[[Saga of a Star World]]" remain unaccounted for in the ''Battlestar'' [[canon]]. It is likely that Uri either never made it back to the Fleet, or that he kept a decidedly low profile due to his actions, as these possibilities would account for his absence in future episodes that featured all 12 members of the Quorum.

[[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] and [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]] happen upon Sire Uri upon the starliner ''[[Rising Star (TOS)|Rising Star]]'', where he and a party of guests are gorging on deposits of horded food untouched by the [[pluton poisoning]] affecting most of the other ships of the [[The Fleet (TOS)|Fleet]]. When Apollo queries the Quorum member of the whereabouts of his wife ([[Siress Uri]]), he replied with somewhat shrouded mirth that she had not been able to make the voyage, as he continued his appreciation of his younger and decidedly aesthetically pleasing female companions.

While Apollo and Boomer manage to distribute Uri's food (appropriated with no willing assistance from Uri) throughout the famished survivors within [[The Fleet (TOS)|The Fleet]], Uri rallies members of the Quorum of the Twelve in an attempt to undermine Adama's authority. Uri goes so far as to support a dangerous plan to take out the Cylon mine field by Apollo, Adama's own son, to spite Adama.

After the Fleet crosses Cylon-laid minefield to [[Carillon]], Uri decides to push his own plan forward. He believes if the remaining Colonial's ability to wage war is inhibited, then the Cylons would no longer see humanity as a threat. In order to carry out his plan, he awards the three pilots that lead the Fleet to safety—Captain Apollo and Lieutenants [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]] and [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]]—with the Quorum's highest award. During this ceremony, Uri planned to announce his plan to the Fleet's citizens, who were sure to agree since they had enjoyed the luxuries that were bestowed upon them by the [[Ovions]].

However, Cylon intervention proves Uri's plan would never work. Apollo and Starbuck storm into the main hall with the Cylons (in collusion with the carnivorous Ovions) nipping at their heels. Uri's protests are instantly quieted as his life becomes endangered ([[Saga of a Star World]]).
