Later during the war, he was assigned back to Galactica as she investigated the plans of the Cylon entity known as Lachesis to use biological weapons upon the Twelve Colonies. Shortly after returning from the battle for the wreckage of the Galleon, Cottle is "promoted" to a desk job on Picon. Despite hating the idea of promotion, Cottle rejects the offer from Silas Nash to remain onboard the Galactica, claiming that serving onboard the battlestar had given him enough excitement for his lifetime.

He would continue serving in the Colonial Fleet following the end of the First Cylon War. His last position is as Chief Medical Officer, with the rank of Major, aboard [[battlestar (RDM)|battlestar]] ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' up to, and following, the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]] decades later ([[Re-imagined Series]]).

== Starlanes ==

Intersected between the various Helioses are planetoids in stable locations, which are [[FTL]] points and are considered the Starlanes of Cyrannus. None are deemed habitable by the Colonies as of approximately 52 [[BCH]].

These planetoids are determined to be the least contested landmarks for jumps between Helioses, and become more critical supply lines for {{dis|Colonial Fleet|Deadlock}} given the dismantling of the [[IDRIS]] network.

The '''''Jupiter'' class''' was a battlestar in [[Colonial Fleet]] service from the [[First Cylon War]] ({{g|RDM|Battlestar Galactica Deadlock}} game intro).

==History and specifications==
When the Cylons attacked the twelve homeworlds of the Cyrannus system, its Human leadership decided to unite against the common threat. The Articles of Colonization established the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. Part of the incentive to join was that each of the Colonies would receive a ''Jupiter''-class battlestar ({{g|RDM|Battlestar Galactica Deadlock}} game intro).

These ships were produced one by one by ''[[Daidalos]]'', a major space station and shipyard. ''{{dis|Galactica|Deadlock}}'' was the first ship of the class, and delivered to {{dis|Caprica|Deadlock}}. Unfortunately, the vessel went missing two weeks into deployment.

Following the loss of Colonial Fleet HQ at Picon, Rear Admiral [[Lucinda Cain]] of ''Daidalos'' inherited command of the remaining fleet. Her first order was to complete ''{{dis|Athena|Deadlock}}'', fifth ship of the class, and deliver it to Picon. While at Scorpia, ''Daidalos'' came under attack from the Cylons. The station's defended repelled the attackers, protecting ''Daidalos'' and the moored ''Athena'' ({{g|RDM|Battlestar Galactica Deadlock}}: Season 1 mission: "Mission 1: Scorpia").

After jumping to Picon, ''Athena'' was launched and initially placed under the command of ''Daidalos''. Together, the flotilla repelled more Cylons, including a pair of {{class|Nemesis}}, {{class|Talon}} and [[war drive raider]]s ({{g|RDM|Battlestar Galactica Deadlock}}: Season 1 mission: "Mission 2: Athena").

During {{dis|Operation Anabasis|Deadlock}}, Lieutenant [[Samantha Agathon]] led a fleet of 10,000 people from distant colonies back to Caprica. Her fleet included a ''Jupiter''-class battlestar. Though heavily damaged, the vessel reached Caprica ({{g|RDM|Battlestar Galactica Deadlock}}: Operation Anabasis intro).

Around the 5th to 7th year of the conflict, ''Daidalos'' jumped to Aerilon to deliver ''{{dis|Demeter|Deadlock}}'', the eighth ''Jupiter'' battlestar. It was the first ''Jupiter'' named after its colony's patron Lord of Kobol, Demeter. ''Demeter'' was successfully delivered, amidst an attack of Cylons. Due to internecine conflict among the Colonials, Cain and Agathon expected that the 9th ''Jupiter'' would still be completed and delivered to Canceron, but that Sagittaron and Gemenon would be exempt due to sanctions placed on them. Following the [[Destruction of Picon Fleet Headquarters]], Cain assumes command of [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Fleet]] and marshals a force capable of defending against the [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon threat]] (''[[Battlestar Galactica Deadlock]]'').

During the fall of the Daidalos Shipyard, Lucinda stepped down from command of Colonial Fleet. At first assumed missing during the fall of Daidalos, she somehow survived its fall and reappears in the 10th year of the war as the field commander of the Ghost Fleet Offensive under Admiral Sarkis who had by then taken over command of the entire Colonial Fleet. When she reappears as field commander of the Ghost Fleet, she is shown to have suffered greivous injuries including half of her right arm missing and scars across her face.

In a conversation with Helena Agathon, Lucinda reveals that she has a granddaughter by the name of Helena Cain.

''Galactica'' is considered the crown jewel of [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]], and is recorded as missing-in-action two weeks after its deployment under its first commander, Admiral [[Jubal Sarkis]]. Unbeknownst to {{dis|Colonial Fleet|Deadlock}}, ''Galactica'' and its crew had been captured by the {{dis|Cylon|Deadlock}}.

Following a parlay with the Cylon {{dis|IL-series|Deadlock}} calling itself [[Clothos]], ''Galactica'' and a majority of her crew (sans Sarkis) were returned at [[Caprica Terminal]]. ''Galactica'' is restaffed and deployed during an [[Battle at Caprica Terminal|attack there]] with Sarkis' ally, {{dis|Silas Nash|Deadlock}}, assuming command (''[[Battlestar Galactica Deadlock]]'').

After her recovery at Caprica Terminal, Galactica would lead the assault on the Cylon battlestation Avalon where Samantha Agathon recovered the badly injured Admiral Jubal Sarkis. In the immediate aftermath of the destruction of Avalon, Galactica jumped to Picon where Sarkis was transferred to a hospital for recovery from his injuries. After Daidalos Mobile Shipyard arrived at Picon, both its fleet and Galactica fought off Cylon forces in the area before the Galactica returned to the fight.

Galactica's greatest trial comes as she is involved in the evacuation of Caprica alongside Daidalos Mobile Shipyard. During the intense battle, Galactica's FTL is disabled and she is unable to jump with Daidalos Mobile Shipyard once Admiral Cain gives the order to evacuate from the planet. Fighting alone against the Cylon bombardment fleet, Galactica suffered extensive damage and is forced to crash land in the Phoebian Ocean on Caprica itself. While Admiral Sarkis, Commander Silas Nash, and Praetor Samantha Agathon survived the crash, Galactica lost a large portion of her crew.

A year later, Galactica is recovered from the Phoebian Ocean and was completely rebuilt into the first Jupiter Mark II with the assistance of the disgraced Sinon Quade. Returning to active service at the head of BSG-75 under Silas Nash's command, Galactica amasses a legendary war record as its participates in engagements all the way through the war's end when she participated in Operation Raptor Talon alongside it's sister ship Columbia and another Jupiter class battlestar.

== Background ==

Following the recovery of the first [[Jupiter (Deadlock)|Jupiter]]-class battlestar, ''[[Galactica (Deadlock)|Galactica]]'' and its crew, [[Praetor]] [[Samanta Agathon]] provides jump data to [[Marathon (planet)|Marathon]]. Marathon is a rogue planet that ''Galactica'' and its crew, including its still-missing commander Admiral [[Jubal Sarkis]], were taken to.

Using this information, [[Colonial Fleet (Deadlock)|Colonial Fleet]]'s Admiral [[Lucinda Cain]] orders the first stages of an offensive strike against the Cylons' staging planet. First, they must clear the mustering point at Marathon before a final attack on [[Clothos]] and its command base, [[Avalon]].
