This is a test. This is only a test. If this were an actual emergency, I'd be screaming like a girl....

Who I am[edit]

I am Sam. No, sorry, that just got stuck in my head thirty odd years ago. I'm Chris. Old hand at teh internets, very new at MediaWikis.

What I don't know about MediaWikis[edit]

Almost everything. More comfortable with InStiki. So this is a section break? Cool.

Transcript Stuff[edit]

If you're reading this, it's probably because I verified your podcast and you want to know who the hell changed all that stuff. Here's what I'm doing, tell me if I should be doing something else:

  • How do you do bullets? Oh, got it. Next.
  • Before I make a change, I've listened to the relevant portion at least three times. Once, to ID the part that reads wrong. The second time to hear if what's being said is actually on the page. The third time to make sure that what I think is being said is actually there. Repeat as necessary. I only make a change if I'm convinced that my interpretation is more likely the correct one.
  • I also note the timecode of that portion in the change description. I'm pretty exact about it (like I said, I've listened to it a bunch, and I've got the time down.) If I get lazy, I'll mark it with a tilde (e.g., "~38:45".) In either case, fire up the podcast, go to a few seconds before the time noted, and listen along. If you think you're right, revert it. If I disagree, I'll just note it in the discussion page.
  • I only mark simple typos as minor.
  • Oh, yeah, I should probably be signing stuff even on my page. Here goes --PrePressChris 17:31, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
  • I have some personal codes that I use, the one you'll probably encouter the most is GGG (or a longer variation.) That just means I marked that place for an unspecified reason, and I meant to do a search for it, but if you're seeing it, I forgot that it was there. Feel free to delete that, but check the surrounding text to see if you can figure out whey I marked it as a problematic area. --PrePressChris 20:36, 18 October 2006 (CDT)

BSG Musings[edit]

Is Hermes a Lord of Kobol? If so, how weird is it that they'd name a class (and presumeably a BS) after him (assuming the Mercurey class refers to Hermes.) It'd be a bit like having a "Jesus class" of carriers. (There was the "Corpus Christi" sub, but that was named after the town, not the body of Christ.) --PrePressChris 20:43, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
