question about a question

the page asks:

  • Is Clarice's Monad church service held in the real world or in V-World?

having watched the episode a couple times now, i feel pretty confident that it is in V-world and i don't think there should be any question of whether or not it is. the V-world "blood cell" establishing shot was used prior to cutting to clarice's cathedral and clarice herself even mentions "in the real world", implying that they are in fact in the virtual world. i didn't want to just delete the material, because it is a valid question, just one that has a pretty immediate answer. so, should the question be deleted or should it be answered on the page? Delete it; the fact will show up (eventually) in the episode summary. I missed the "blood cell" transition--my access to the episode is limited for now, thanks to geography and the logic of a certain TV network. . . . BlueResistance 05:10, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Planet of the Apes references

Escape from the Planet of the Apes is hardly the first, the most famous, or the most revered example of flash forward techniques. Flash forwarding is so common in storytelling that it is very unlikely the writers were paying homage to Apes. Likewise, it is a stretch to suggest that the Cylon marine statue and the cat and dog statue in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes are directly related: there are many real-world statues depicting warriors in heroic action poses that are more probable sources of inspiration. --BlueResistance 15:52, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

messenger zoe vs. zoe-A

i think this is much ado about nothing:

  • It is possible that the Zoe listening to Clarice's sermon was Messenger Zoe. Given the events of Caprica, especially the previous episode and this one, it seems unlikely that Clarice would tolerate Zoe-A's presence under any circumstances, or that that Zoe-A would allow Clarice to even suggest violence, much less preach it openly. Only a brief glimpse of Zoe is offered, so there are none of the usual indicators of a Messenger, such as others in the same space obviously ignoring the character, or a non-Messenger character having a conversation with what turns out to be air. However, it is unknown how relationships may change between the characters, and events may occur that would indeed drive Zoe-A to seek rebellion. Clarice's "prophecy" that there is one who will set the Cylons free seems to refer to Zoe.
  • Alternatively, as the congregation is otherwise entirely Cylon, the Zoe may be Zoe-R (i.e, Zoe-A inhabbiting a Cylon body). The usual indicator of such an appearance - a CGI Cylon shown first in place of Zoe-R - is seen, albeit with several scene cuts in the interim. On the pew behind Zoe are a petite white Cylon and a Centurion. During the initial montage of Willow's congregation (prior to Willow's pilgrimage to Mother Lacy on Gemenon), a Centurion is seen with a petite white Cylon and a Centurion on the pew behind it, the three in the same relative positions; additionally, the two sequences are each preceded by identical shots of a Centurion genuflecting next to a column. Zoe-A's resurrection into her skinjob body is not shown until after Zoe's appearance in the congregation.

according to the audio commentary on "apotheosis", kevin murphy states that the messenger zoe storyline was a misstep. he also says that he has no idea why zoe - not messenger zoe - is in the cathedral. it seems likely to me, if they were to bring back a character they considered a mistake, murphy would have known why she was in the scene, or at least noted that it was her.

furthermore, the propworx auction for the black dress - not sparkly pink dress as worn by the messenger version of zoe - worn by alessandra toressani notes what the production wrote this on the tag: "ZOE A. CATHEDRAL EP. 118 NOT ALTERED" [1].

to me the evidence suggests that it was zoe-A in the cathedral. anybody agree? disagree? Pst001 02:21, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
