Tyrol's comment that the Temple is 4,000 years old, given that he's not an archeologist or a historian, is generally correct. The Twelve Tribes, which made the Colonies, left 2,000 years P.T.M., or almost 2,000 years later. So there's not really a contradiction there, just a little inaccuracy on Tyrol's part.
