Vancouver's fourth Orpheum Theatre was designed by [[w:B. Marcus Priteca|B. Marcus Priteca]], a Seattle-based architect who designed nearly two hundred theatres from San Diego to Alaska, with Frederick J. Peters as associated architect. Construction ran from 1926 to 1927; the theatre hosted its first shows on November 7, 1927 and officially opened as a [[w:vaudeville|vaudeville]] house the following day, November 8. Priteca introduced numerous innovations to theatre design in the Orpheum, including a triple-domed ceiling, a deep cantilevered balcony with angled seating for improved sight lines, an orchestra pit, and a mezzanine.
