Joe Who?

Joe Beaudoin Jr. is the webmaster and head honcho for the Battlestar Wiki.

I am responsible for starting the beast you see before you now; all the contributors and visitors are responsible for the beast's development and continual growth. This is very much a community-driven effort that has surpassed even my wildest expectations. With that in mind, I thank you all for your hard work and dedication! So say we all!

__ Work on mirrors for Battlestar Wiki

Currently working on...

While I really leave all the day to day editing to the contributors, leaving me free to concentrate on major issues (such as policy and so forth, being the "senior chief"), I plan to work on the following:

__ Develop the Wiki Blog
__ Implement the paid membership.
__ Focusing on the audio-version of Battlestar Wiki
__ Focusing on developing the media repository.
__ Adding sound content to the wiki, notably in the form of clips from the series.

Joe's Biography

I hail from Vero Beach, Florida, best known to most as victim of both Hurricane Frances and Hurricane Jeanne in mid-to-late 2004.

When not trying to write and publish my manuscripts, working for White Eye Productions, Inc. as a writer, developer, and vice president, and researching BSG on a professional basis, I use whatever "spare" time I have to improve the Battlestar Galactica fanbase's online experience by working with the official Battlestar Fan Club, as well as working to oversee project development of Frak Media Productions's web endeavors.

While I do prefer that you just contact me on my talk page, I can be contacted by clicking the "e-mail this user" link in the toolbox, itself being on the left margin of this page.

As for computing, I use a custom built, AMD-64 Debian Linux machine called "Zen". ("Zen" is the name of the computer that ran the Liberator on Blake's 7.) I did have a Toshiba laptop called "Orac" (yet another Blake's 7 reference), but I no longer have it as I gave the computer to my father for his real estate business. Instead, I have a PowerBook G4 -- swearing off Windows-based machines for good, or so I hoped. I do use Windows machines here and there due to business reasons, but nothing beats a Mac in terms of ease of use.

I also have an XBox, Playstation 2, and, yes, a Nintendo 64 (for Goldeneye, otherwise I would've sold it).

P.S. Yes, you can edit my user page. I trust you. Besides, I can always undo your edits. :-)

Joe's Personal Blog

The Star Trek Movie and Logic
Yes, I finally broke down and saw the new Star Trek movie. The movie was, with few exceptions, awesome. The exception I take issue with is the deus ex machina of “time travel,” which bugs me to no end as simply its implementation in the movie is utterly lazy. For those of us that (maybe sadly) [...] [?]
Something I stumbled across…
In my search for a quote, I found this from Maya Angelou, one of America’s better contemporary poets. Thought I’d share it with ya! “I don’t know if I continue, even today, always liking myself. But what I learned to do many years ago was to forgive myself. It is very important for every human being [...] [?]
Reading stars is like reading tea leaves… you can do it, but don’t whine if nothing constructive comes from it.
This is my reply to Mojo’s blog post regarding the regrettably, overly deep analysis that some honest, loving fans have done over the run of B-Star Galactica when it comes to star patterns seen fleetingly in the background. If it passes moderation, you’ll see it as a response to his blog… but without some [...] [?]
Thanks Mark V.
Former Battlestar writer Mark Verheiden blogged a quick note about the Battlestar Wiki on his blog, which you can read here. It puts a smile on my face to know that the long work of loving, dedicated fans is noticed by the folks on the higher planes of existence. [?]
To Bed, Then to California…
Yes, this will be my final night before returning to California for one last time. I am headed there to move my stuff out of the apartment, list the stuff that I can’t take with me for sale (and hopefully get a hit on it before next Monday), and close up any loose ends that [...] [?]
Screencaps from “Daybreak”
In the vein of keeping with the daily regiment of “blogging,” here are some sweet high-definition screencaps from “Daybreak,” mainly of The Colony and of the attack. These were posted courtesy of “Antartic Fox” on the Battlestar Forum in this thread. By the way, not sure if anyone noticed, but during the rappelling scene Lee Adama [...] [?]
Hello, [fill-in-the-blank] it’s me, Joe… and I know it has been a while.
It’s been a while, so I thought I’d start off with some baby steps and blog a bit. You know, just to get the juices flowing. I do have much to say in the past six or so months since I’ve last blogged, yet I don’t have the time to go through it all… Let us [...] [?]
My Vero Pilgrimage
As some of you may already be aware, I have returned from a three month stay in Vancouver, Canada, which is home to not only the Cactus Club Cafe and its spiked frapps (a coffee drink with alcohol, served like a slushie in a martini glass, costing $7 CDN) but also to the Vancouver Film [...] [?]
Clone Wars
So today Alec and I went to see the Clone Wars movie. It was a nicely done movie, and enjoyable. Obviously, it was your basic Star Wars action flick, and if you’re a Star Wars fan you’d enjoy it. There’s not much of a story here, and the main draw is the impressive CGI. The actress [...] [?]
Weekend Update… Screw you, Norm Macdonald.
Anyway, after a long five days of cataloging props, we’re taking some time off this weekend. (We’re still hitting up the office for three or four hours to get things organized a bit.) We’ve received some much needed shelving from the set dec people and are going through what stuff we’ll have for the first [...] [?]
