Name

Seems like a name change is in order. Although the planet is called "Scorpia" per "Colonial Day" (and also per "Razor" itself!), a "Razor" subtitle names it as "Scorpion Fleet Shipyards". That isn't implausible, but we should probably change it for the sake of consistency. --Serenity 09:36, 2 November 2007 (CDT)

Other survivors

I couldn't find any dialogue that supported the line about dock workers and people from other ships escaping aboard Pegasus. I checked the transcript of "Razor" and "Pegasus" pretty closely. I wonder if that was just a line to support fan-fiction? Or if there was anything to back that up... --Steelviper 15:13, 26 November 2007 (CST)

I vaguely recall something, but I can't for the life of me remember where it comes from. Maybe it was speculation based on some line that has been deleted since. From "Pegasus" it certainly seemed possible, but "Razor" just doesn't leave any time for it. --Serenity 15:15, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Adjective forms of "Scorpio" and "Scorpia"

Would these be correct declensions for the archaic and moden names?

Scorpio -> Scorpion

The removal of that puzzled me too. "Scorpian" was the accepted adjective of "Scorpia", but using "Scorpion" for "Scorpio" isn't? Does not compute. Granted it might just be a mismatch behind the scenes, but it's a likely in-universe explanation. --Serenity 03:12, 17 December 2007 (CST)

Designer of one of the unknown vessels reveals name on website

There are some pictures on Talk:Fall of the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards#Berzerk Orthos, where the topic was brought up already. The problem is that it's not really official. But we can probably say "the designer named the ship so and so". --Serenity 03:12, 17 December 2007 (CST)

Yeah it could just be a nickname given by the designer. I've heard some fans refer to it as a Gunstar, but that's not really official either.--OrionFour 04:11, 17 December 2007 (CST)

Shipyard vs. Shipyards

Cain uses the singular form in "Pegasus", but the "Razor" subtitles use the plural. So either would work. To be honest, so many other articles here use "shipyards", that it would be the easiest to just leave it at that. -- Serenity 16:24, 17 February 2008 (CST)

Scorpion Fleet

Hi there,

I wonder whether something like a “Scorpion Fleet” exists; it could consist of several (or a lot of) battlestar groups. Its name would refer to the animal (which is well-fortified, having a poisenous sting), and of course to the colony. It is perfectly possible to have different names for animal and constellation; see “toro” (the animal) and “Tauro” (the constellation) in Spanish. This would solve the problem of the mismatching “adjective” Scorpion (why would anyone name a shipyard after an ancient name of the planet or colony?)

I ask because this would make a difference for the German translation. Having a “Scorpion Fleet”, named after the animal, this would be “Werft der Skorpionflotte”; with “Scorpion” being an adjective (and mismatching the current colony name), this would be something like “Scorpionische Flottenwerft”. The current German article name “Scorpio Flottenwerft” is wrong in any case: there is a hyphen missing, and even with the hyphen it wouldn't be much better. --Tobias 08:46, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Putting the name of a city (or colony, as is the case here) is a typical naming convention, at least in English. For instance, there are naval bases with the name of their location first, followed by their function: e.g. "Portsmouth Naval Base," "Norfolk Naval Base," and "Pudget Sound Naval Base." Obviously, each language has its own syntactic rules, so feel free to format the name however necessary. (By the way, do you have "move" permissions?
