Talk:Landing bay (RDM)

Until halted by... magnetic

The magnets would pull orthogonally to the surface the Vipers are landing on and would therefore not significantly contribute to slowing the Viper's motion parallel to a line contained in the plane of the deck. They do pull the gear into contact with the deck, initiating friction, but it's the friction that slows them. --CalculatinAvatar 15:20, 20 April 2006 (CDT)

Well, in "Final Cut" Kara says "She's missed the trap". For me that does indicate some form of arresting system. But not literally arresting wires like on modern carriers. Maybe both the Viper's landing skits and part of the deck can be magnetized to attract each other. The rest is down by friction as you said. --Serenity 06:33, 15 September 2006 (CDT)

TOS Equivalent

There's a TOS Landing bay as well (that's where one of the fires was in "Fire in Space"). Should we break this out into the RDM and TOS articles? --Steelviper 08:06, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

Yep, we should, and redirect any alternative names. --Spencerian 08:09, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
I don't know if it's worth renaming everything just to have a small TOS article about this. We could do it like the ships and have Landing bay (TOS), but keep "Landing bay" as a redirect to Landing bay (RDM). --Serenity 08:14, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
I agree with Serenity. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 16:49, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
Done. Though, I checked and there are far less links to here than I expected. So if someone wants to go ahead and change them that wouldn't be too much work after all. Still, considering that landing bays are only mentioned once in TOS, we could just leave it. --Serenity 16:54, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
