Article Organization[edit]

Should we have a separate page for each of the "models", or just aggregate all the information here? There's not much that can be said about Command Centurions, as we only see them a few times (Ice Planet Zero, Living Legend (on Gamoray), and Hand of God are all that I can recall). I can't find too much on the IL-series (Lucifer appears pretty often, Specter in Young Lords, and a handful of no-names on Gamoray during Living Legend). Supposedly the IL represents Industrial Light & Magic, though I can't find a canonical source to back that. There's screenshot material of "civilian" Cylons on Gamoray, but there's not that much that can be said about them. I'm leaning towards separate articles, but maybe trimming some of the content about the models from this page (and moving it down to the child articles) so that this article doesn't steal their thunder. --Steelviper 09:43, 14 February 2006 (EST)

If you can find a way to do it the way you want it to be done, that'd be fine. -- Joe Beaudoin 10:02, 14 February 2006 (EST)
I thought IL just stood for Imperious Leader? --April Arcus 10:55, 14 February 2006 (EST)
That's the common assumption.
"The phrase is a play on words for John Dykstra's Industrial Light and Magic, which provided special effects for Galactica's initial episodes."(http://www.kobol.com/archives/BG-FAQ.html here) (http://www.geocities.ws/sjpaxton/newpage12.html#il or here)
Like I said, not canonical, but definitely a different twist. --Steelviper 11:06, 14 February 2006 (EST)
Also here, but not cited either. --Steelviper 11:28, 14 February 2006 (EST)

I've gone with the separate article concept for the Cylon models. I'm trying to trim the descriptions/bullets on this main page to be about 1 line, and move all the details down into the child articles. I'll try to get some screenshots of the "Civilian" Cylons on Gamoray, after which I'll create an article for them. (There's not much to say about them.) What else needs to go on this page? There's no mention of the attack on the Hasari. I guess that (as a catalyst for the thousand yahren war) may be what little history exists (aside from the Iblis revelations). Cylon Religion appears to be a non-factor in TOS. The Cylon Models are covered. Cylon spacecraft could be highlighted, although there is only the raider and the basestar. I've got a screenshot of a Viper's readout on an old raider that would be perfect for a TOS raider article (whenever that happens). Cylon Tactics would probably be a short article for TOS. The only other thing I can think of might be a mentioning of the concept of the Edict of Extermination, but since that was never explicitly discussed during the series (an indirect reference is made in Saga of a Star Wolrd), it may be something best left to speculation. --Steelviper 14:29, 14 February 2006 (EST)

Changeover...[edit]

Switch! Sorry. Army PT joke. Is this about ready to take over the prime-time slot (Cylons (TOS))? With the new spacecraft and history sections, I think it's about ready. My only caveat (and this applies to the Cylons (RDM) page as well) is that it could use at least one picture to jazz the place up. I can't think of any ONE photo that captures the essence of the Cylons, but if anybody has any ideas feel free to shout them out (or better yet, put them on the page). I've got the DVD's if there's a perfect scene that somebody can remember that we don't have a capture of. (I'm not sure what the odds of that happening are.) Once we decide to go live with this we just need to delete the old Cylons (TOS), then execute a move from this page? --Steelviper 15:51, 15 February 2006 (EST)

I too have TOS DVDs, though I'm a bit lazy to go through and rifle through them. :-) Seriously though, the only scene that comes to mind is when the Cylons are overruning the chancery on Carillon, crashing Sire Uri's pathetic awards ceremony.
Oh, and also, I am starting to recall scenes in "The Return of Starbuck" where Cy discusses with Starbuck why Cylons hate humanity. It's not as detailed as one would hope for, but it's better than nothing. Other than those two items, I think this page is ready for prime time. :-) -- Joe Beaudoin 19:54, 15 February 2006 (EST)
I added an overrun pic. I also captured this one (with the menacing bayonet look). I don't have the 1980 episodes on my DVD's (thank goodness), so someone else would have to step up if we're going to try for the Cy capture. Whichever one we don't use on the Cylons (TOS) page, we might consider for the centurion model 0005 article, since we've only got RDM pics on that page currently (I think).--Steelviper 21:48, 15 February 2006 (EST)
Were we going to wait for the Cy screen capture before making the move? If so, we might be waiting a while... --Steelviper 12:36, 17 February 2006 (EST)
We can add that in later. I'm going to move the page now. -- Joe Beaudoin 12:41, 17 February 2006 (EST)
