Nicole Yorkin's father is Bud Yorkin, well-known producer, director, and creator of television series including Sanford and Son (1972), All in the Family (1971) and One in a Million (1980). [1] Before going into television, Nicole, a Berkeley graduate, was a reporter for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, where she was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for a series of articles about a 12-year-old prostitute. [2] She met another BSG writer Dawn Prestwich at the American Film Institute, and they have been a team ever since. They have worked on various television shows over ten plus years, including Chicago Hope, Picket Fences and Ally McBeal, and won a Writer's Guild Award in 2003 for their drama pilot, The Education of Max Bickford. They also were writers and Co-Executive Producers on Carnivàle, [2] the HBO series where fellow BSG crew members Ronald D. Moore and Toni Graphia also worked.
