Kavan Smith (born 6 May 1970) is a Canadian television actor who portrayed Richard Bayer in "The Captain's Hand", an episode of the Re-imagined Series.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and raised in Calgary, Smith participated in football and martial arts. Initially attending Mount Royal College for economics, he studied for and graduated with a degree in acting, which lead him to work in various Vancouver-based television productions.^[1]

To genre audiences, he is better known for his recurring role as Major Evan Lorne in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, as well as the role of Agent Garrity in The 4400.

Smith has a dog named Lucy, who is a cross between a Leonberger and a Collie.^[2]
