An effort to create a continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica series was formulated through the Sci Fi Channel's former executive vice president, Bonnie Hammer, in June of 2000.
Director Bryan Singer and producer Tom DeSanto, who met over an air flight while Tom was watching the Original Series on DVD, began talking as well about a revival of the series around the same time. ("SDS" is Battlestar Wiki's shortcut designation, using the last initials of the revival leaders.)
By the start of 2001, the rumors increased of the likelihood of a new series. The rumors were confirmed by February of that year, and the holders to the rights for Battlestar Galactica, Studios USA, announced that Bryan Singer and his collaborative team were intent on maintaining the spirit of the Original Series. ...continued...

- This Battlestar Galactica PC is just plain ol' cool.
- In this blog post from Dragon*Con, a few tidbits are revealed, including info on a minor character assuming a major role in the outcome of the series. Also, some info shared about "The Plan".
- In a recent interview with Wired, John Hodgman says he will make a cameo appearance as a doctor in an upcoming episode.
- According to TVShowsOnDVD.com the R1 Season 4.0 DVD set will be released January 6th. The set will also include "Razor", the podcasts, video blogs, deleted scenes, three new audio commentaries and several behind-the-scenes documentaries.
- NBC Universal and Apple have mended their fences in the U.S. NBC network programing, including the Re-imagined Series, The Office and Heroes, are now available again from the iTunes Store (free iTunes software required), now in HD, for USD$2.99.
- A interesting article on CNN.com tells of the increasingly viral use of "frak" in popular culture, thanks to the popularity of the Re-imagined Series.
- In a press release issued by SkyOne on August 6th, SkyOne announces that it has acquired rights to air the 2-hour prequel Caprica on both SkyOne and SkyOne HD. It also gives the tentative date of November 2008 for its airing.
