Is Ambrosia what they call "alcohol", or is it a kind of alcohol, like "brandy" or "wine"? Because I actually think ambrosia is "their word" for alcohol, and all things we'd call "alcholoic beverage" are "ambrosia". --The Merovingian (C - E) 20:59, 17 June 2006 (CDT)

Admitting things could be different in BSG, in our world if (like Gaeta ) we say something is good with a chaser it usually a particular liquor, and often a particular brand. However, this may be question for the "official source". I can't remember, in the still scenes, if anyone called it something else. What about labels on bottles? Sorry, got to rambling. --FrankieG 21:12, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
I suspect it's a kind of alcohol, if only because we've seen booze in many different colors, but only the green stuff has been called "Ambrosia". --Peter Farago 23:51, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
One the front of one of the bottles (Secrets and Lies), it quite clearly states that its 'Ambrosia' which leads me to believe that like Peter said - its a type of booze, much like Glenfiddich or Baileys or Grenadine :) --Fordsierra4x4 06:41, 18 June 2006 (CDT)
I've got a good screen cap of the Ambrosia label (from a "Behind the Scenes" segment on the DVD) that states "Stanford Distillery." That would indicate it's booze, most likely some relative of absinthe, Pernod, or Chartreuse. Reproduction of Ambrosia Label here --Scotchfairy 15:38, 31 July 2006 (CDT)
Grenadine isn't booze. --CalculatinAvatar(C-T) 20:34, 18 June 2006 (CDT)
It is when you add vodka to the bottle! *hic* :D --Fordsierra4x4 09:51, 19 June 2006 (CDT)
Grenadine is a key ingredient in a Cylon Shooter ;) --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 16:07, 31 July 2006 (CDT)

the label[edit]

I just scored a scan of a set of Ambrosia bottle labels. Including the very amusing back label. The scan colors are off (not suprising, since it's metallic), but a little correcting in Photoshop produced something readable:
Take A Look
This came to me from Bradley Thompson, by way of his SO, Mexichick, who's a regular contributor at the Skiffy BSG forum. They got Ron Moore's okay to post the scan. We should probably ask before including it here (though I don't think they'd have any problems with one of my reproductions, since that was why they originally provided me the copy--I'd asked Terry Moore about the back label a couple weeks ago) --Scotchfairy 08:03, 12 August 2006 (CDT)

That's awesome, check out the colonial phone number on the bottom one. --Talos 10:29, 12 August 2006 (CDT)
What is the status of being allowed to post these scans on the main Ambrosia page? Or maybe a higher res version than the one posted above? I wish I could just go buy a bottle of Ambrosia at the store!-- Anastasija 12:33, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
I suppose we can post the scan. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 15:10, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
