Born and raised in [[w:Vancouver, British Columbia|Vancouver, British Columbia]], Sharma's ancestors relocated from the state of [[w:Uttar Pradesh|Uttar Pradesh]] in [[w:India|India]] after the British occupation of the country, and settled in the [[w:Fiji Islands|Fiji Islands]].
