Additional Information

The Demetrius is a ship in the Fleet and survives the Battle of the Ionian Nebula.

When Kendra Shaw tries to tune in to a Talk Wireless interview with Gaius Baltar, she picks up a transmission from the Adriatic to the Demetrius concerning cargo wasting in Adriatics's holds (Razor).

After Kara Thrace's return, a torn William Adama gives Thrace a crew (including Karl Agathon) and command of this ship. Under the guise of a survey mission to find food sources, Thrace will use Demetrius to try to find Earth, despite Laura Roslin's warnings that Thrace is not to be trusted (Six of One).

Notes

  • Its name is first shown on the voting tally board in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II".
  • Demetrius I was a Greco-Bactrian king who reigned circa 200-180 BCE as well as many other historical figures.
  • Demeter is the Greek goddess of grain and agriculture, the pure nourisher of youth and the green earth, the health-giving cycle of life and death, and preserver of marriage and the sacred law.
  • The ship has been rumored to play a large role during the early episodes of Season 4. A partially completed set was revealed during a set tour in June 2006, showing the ship to have a configuration similar to that of a submarine.[1] According to Ron D. Moore, he describes the ship as the "closest we’ve ever come to a sort of Das Boot – type look and feel on this programme since the [2003] mini series".[2] It is set to make its debut in episode five or six.[1]
