[[Image:City of the Gods.jpg|thumb|An illustration of the City of the Gods]] [[Image:Opera House ruins.jpg|thumb|Ruins of the Opera House]] The '''City of the Gods''' was the central city on the planet [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]] in ancient times, said to be the birthplace of mankind and the place where the "gods and man lived in paradise" before the exodus of the thirteen tribes. The remains of the city are seen by [[Sharon Valerii|Boomer]] and [[Crashdown]] when they come across Kobol during a [[Raptor]] reconnaissance mission ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]). During a review of the images of the city, [[Laura Roslin]] has a [[Chamalla|vision]] of the city when it was still inhabited, seeing the [[Forum]] and the [[Opera House]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]). These events lead her to the conclusion that the [[Sacred Scrolls|scriptures]] and the legends are true, and that - as foretold by [[Leoben Conoy]] - Kobol will be a stepping stone to [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]] ([[Flesh and Bone]]). Realizing that the [[Arrow of Apollo]] and the [[Tomb of Athena]] may be the key to discovering Earth, Roslin persuades [[Kara Thrace]] to take a captured [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Cylon Raider]] back to [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] to retrieve the Arrow, rather than preparing the fighter for an attack on a Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|basestar]] orbiting Kobol ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]).
