Carl Lumbly

Carl Lumbly was born and grew up in Minneapolis, where he attended South High School. There he pursued acadmeics and sport as arts, including theatre, were not emphasised in the curriculum. Following high school, he attended McAlester College, where he considered pursuing medicine or law after guidance from his father. He ultimately decided to pursue a major in English, while he took part in student productions like "Guys and Dolls". Upon graduation Carl sought work as a technical writer for 3M while pursuing part time work as a reporter for the Associated Press.

In the mid-70s he joined Rigg's workshop, where he performed in a variety of satirical revues. He left Minnesota, moving to San Francisco and then L.A. where on both occasions he landed on-stage roles opposite Danny Glover. Soon after, Carl was cast as Marcus Peuree in the hit televeision series Cagney and Lacey, a role he continued to play for six years, bringing him steady work and recognition as a television actor. In 2001 he joined the cast of Alias, and after the shows conclusion in 2006 has joined the cast of Battlestar Galactica for it's Third Season. His first appearance will be in the seventh episode entitled "Hero".[1]
