On for talk? / taskbot

n/t --Shane (T - C - E) 20:58, 15 October 2006 (CDT)

Bot's all set. Just need to setup the cron job on the server - Every 24 hours or 12 or 6?. It's located in /ROOT/bots/taskbot/taskbot.pl. So the command is perl /ROOT/bots/taskbot/taskbot.pl. That's it. I made it shorter. --Shane (T - C - E) 01:35, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
12 hours should be fine for now. We can always adjust it later. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 07:42, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
Done. It now runs at 12 hour intervals. (Although, when I went to try to run the command, it spat back that the server wasn't recognizing the bot.) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 10:49, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
Werid. I just did a manual run and it worked. --Shane (T - C - E) 12:00, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
I'm getting the same error sent to me via e-mail as well from CRON. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 19:18, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
Send me the error via Gtalk. I am going to try to run it via a different directory. See if it has to do with the "location" of the cookies file. --Shane (T - C - E) 19:54, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
Found problem. :-) --Shane (T - C - E) 19:57, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
Go ahead and try to run it yourself. It should work. I have to force tell the perl script where to find the cookies file. :-) --Shane (T - C - E) 20:02, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
OK, apparently another problem surfaced. I'll send the error via gMail. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 07:50, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
The die() is how the script ends it self without any infiente loops. I'll see if I can change it to something that doesn't require die(); --Shane (T - C - E) 12:15, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
Changed it to "Exit". Shouldn't happen anymore. --Shane (T - C - E) 12:27, 18 October 2006 (CDT)
Yes, that seems to work. :-) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 19:55, 19 October 2006 (CDT)

Can I play? I'd like to manage the general purposes of the blog as applicable, particularly noting pages marked for deletion, merges, and such, as well as spotlighting wiki features and abilities for newbies, informal policy explanations, interesting or new articles, downtime or performance, yada, yada, yada. --Spencerian 10:17, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

What ya using? --Shane (T - C - E) 00:04, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

To capture, I use WireTap Pro. I tried using Audacity, but ran into problems in using it, for some reason... -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 00:08, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

new contributor - audio episode guides?

Hello! Sorry to be a newbie, but, I've been a fan of the BSGWiki for quite some time, and I finally got a working headset and decided to give something back to the site if I could - I recorded the episode guide for '33' according to the script given on the Audio project page, and I was wondering where I should upload it for verification and such. If I did everything right, I should be able to record most of the audio for the episode guides within the week if you guys want - this seems like an interesting idea, I like doing voiceovers and audio work, and the Lords know I can't edit a wiki to save my life XD

Just looking to be pointed in the right direction, and asking the admin for help might get me there ^^ Thank you, Kobayashihikaru 14:41, 22 October 2006 (CDT)

Hello! Nothing wrong with being a newbie! Anyway, all files are to be uploaded to the Media Wiki. Just a question, though, how big is the MP3 file, because I may have to increase the upload limit on the server. Look forward to hearing back from you! -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 14:57, 22 October 2006 (CDT)
Whoa, thank you for the quick response ^^ I just finished recording the audio for the third episode guide, for Bastille Day, and so far the largest of the three is 2.3 MB in size - I tried to keep the file size down as much as I could out of compassion for those of us with dialup and for the BSGWiki server. Kobayashihikaru 15:33, 22 October 2006 (CDT)
Cool! Look forward to reviewing your reads! -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 15:35, 22 October 2006 (CDT)
Okay, I uploaded the files to the MediaWiki, but I'm not sure where I have to go to flag them for review. The verifications page is coming up as an 'edit' link, and I somehow don't feel like I have the authority to make the page for the stuff I did to be reviewed at. >.> I'm going to provide links to the audio files here, so you don't have to go hunting for them - I -think- these links should work...

Again, sorry for being clueless, just trying to help the wiki where I can. ^^ Kobayashihikaru 15:51, 22 October 2006 (CDT)
