Beatles References

Is it just me or are there a bunch of Beatles references starting to pop up in Galactica? Dr. Robert, A Day in the Life, that R&D TV skit... --BklynBruzer 09:35, 5 February 2007 (CST)

The Doctor Robert ref is very clear to me but im not sure which r&D skit you are on about? --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 09:50, 5 February 2007 (CST)
A recent skit shows the duo and their office suddenly transforming to a Sgt. Peppers album background. Eick hands Moore a large number 9, and he promptly collapses as Eick says "Turn me on dead man," the infamous backmasking on one of the album's songs. That one's appeared at the one of S3 episodes, but can't remember which. --Spencerian 09:58, 5 February 2007 (CST)
I think it was on "Taking a Break..." but I'm not sure. --BklynBruzer 11:26, 5 February 2007 (CST)

First name

Are we sure it's Michael? Closed caption has Micah, and I don't actually hear them puncuating the name with an 'l' sound. --Mars 02:49, 12 February 2007 (CST)

  • Tigh referred to him as "Mike". Logic dictates that's short for "Michael" unless stated otherwise. -- Troyian 04:22, 12 February 2007 (CST)
The file on him that Helo picked up clearly said "Michael" --BklynBruzer 06:01, 12 February 2007 (CST)
Yes, it does. And I've changed the name of the article. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 13:03, 12 February 2007 (CST)

But the Official Season 3 Companion gives his name as Micah. Doesn't that count for something? --Mars 13:45, 5 December 2007 (CST)

Yeah, it does. We now have a contradiction from visual evidence (on screen) and from an official reference book. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 13:50, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Well, don't we go with on-screen evidence over books? --BklynBruzer 16:08, 5 December 2007 (CST)
I thought so so too. A note about it should suffice. --Serenity 16:13, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Right. But it's definitely worth noting... The question now remains, where did Bassom get the info on "Micah"? Was it from an early version of the script? (Remember the whole "Paul" vs. "Saul" business for Tigh's first name?) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 16:16, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Like I first pointed out, the closed-caption gives his name as Micah, which correlates to the pronunciation I hear when his first name is spoken. I think the visual has less merit here and am willing to gamble that "Michael" maybe a prop bollixing. Recall the Armistice papers from the miniseries that use "Centurian" and "yahern". --Mars 09:04, 8 December 2007 (CST)
Centurian has actually been used onscreen during Galactica 1980 as well (I'll hold off on the DVD release to post screencaps), so that one can be argued. Yahern, though, is obviously a typo. I don't see why Mike can't also be short for Micah (any name that can be abbreviated often will). If they say, "Micah" (I'm not arguing that they do) AND that's corroborated by the official material, I'd say that the on-screen evidence that is backed up (by both the subtitles and the book) is stronger than a single onscreen prop. Basically, if Micah was a mistake, they did it three times (which seems to go beyond coincidence), whereas Michael only has the written reference and an assumption about the abbreviated form of the name. I don't know how far we want to go to prove that they said Micah vs. Michael though, with regards to audio analysis and sound graphs, etc. --Steelviper 10:36, 8 December 2007 (CST)
I never heard "Micah," I always heard it as "Mike." --BklynBruzer 08:13, 10 December 2007 (CST)
