The Landing Signal Officer (LSO) is the officer who is responsible for all flight operations on the flight pods of battlestars and other military vessels. This includes the landing of all vessels, from Vipers and Raptors to small liners such as Colonial One (Miniseries, "Final Cut").

On Galactica, the LSO was Captain Aaron Kelly. He used his position to wage a bombing campaign which results in the death of Baltar's first lawyer and nearly kills the second (The Son also Rises). Kelly's replacement in the position has not yet been featured.

Notes[edit]

  • Assuming a direct equivalence with contemporary U.S. naval aviation, and contrary to what the title implies, the job in the Colonial Fleet is much more expansive. It is a combination of both LSO and "Air Boss" [1].
