Tom Zarek - February 2008[edit]

Tom Zarek
Tom Zarek

Tom Zarek was a political activist for more than 30 years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. He is a charismatic, eloquent and ideological political agitator who was incarcerated for destroying a government building on Sagittaron. His 20-year incarceration culminated in a sojourn on the Astral Queen, an FTL-capable prison ship, whilst in transit to parole hearings. Assigned the prison number of 893893, Zarek is under consideration for parole at the time of the Cylon attack.

As the Cylons attack the Twelve Colonies, Zarek is on a prison barge called the Astral Queen. Zarek manages to secure the release of the prisoners, and is put in command of the Astral Queen. Zarek engages in a steady effort to gain the goodwill of others of influence within the fleet, resulting in his nomination as Sagittaron's representative on the Quorum of Twelve. Zarek makes a bid for the position of vice president, ultimately losing out to Gaius Baltar. Zarek eventually becomes Baltar's vice president, then president after the exodus of New Caprica. He then brokers a deal with Laura Roslin, allowing her to assume the presidency and being appointed her vice president. ...continued...

Memorial Hallway - March 2008[edit]

Dualla as she enters the memorial hallway.
Dualla as she enters the memorial hallway.

The memorial hallway[1] was created by the crew of Galactica to aid the survivors of humanity to find any loved ones who may have been rescued from the Cylon destruction of the Colonies and were lucky to find themselves on one of the many ships in the battlestar's care.

Five days after the Fleet's escape from Ragnar, Specialist Socinus and other crew are gathering a record of surviving colonists for the new Colonial government, but cannot upload photos to the database (or possibly to other ships) at that moment. When Anastasia Dualla offers her photos to Socinus, he suggests to leave the photo with his group or to place it outside in one of Galactica's hallways. Opting for the latter, Dualla encounters hundreds of photos, newspaper clippings, drawings, and other mementos of loved ones presumed lost or missing in the new Cylon war (33). ...continued...

Starbuck's Poem - April 2008[edit]

A shot of the poem next to the mandala in Kara Thrace's apartment (Maelstrom).

Kara Thrace's old apartment on Caprica in the city of Delphi is filled with paintings on canvas as well as some wall paintings (Valley of Darkness).

In the wall to the left of a curious circular painting that Thrace has doodled since she was a child ("The Eye of Jupiter", "Maelstrom"), the Viper pilot wrote a simple poem that may be about Zak Adama, a former lover she is responsible for getting killed. ...continued...

Norman Blore - May 2008[edit]

Norman Blore driving his wife and two Cylons to a costume party (The Night the Cylons Landed, Part I).

Norman Blore[2] and his wife Shirley are driving to a Halloween party where Wolfman Jack is in attendance. Norman is dressed as a clown, although he is far from jovial, particularly since he is the second Earthling known to have first contact with a Cylon.

The "disguised" Cylons Andromus and Centuri accept a ride from Norman, needled by Shirley who believes they are humans such as they are, merely dressed up for the festivities. Unlike the laughing Shirley, his reaction is one of trepidation and discomfort. ...continued...

Battlestar Galactica (SDS) - July 2008 - August 2008[edit]

Cylon design for the cancelled Battlestar Galactica continuation series

An effort to create a continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica series was formulated through the Sci Fi Channel's former executive vice president, Bonnie Hammer, in June of 2000.

Director Bryan Singer and producer Tom DeSanto, who met over an air flight while Tom was watching the Original Series on DVD, began talking as well about a revival of the series around the same time. ("SDS" is Battlestar Wiki's shortcut designation, using the last initials of the revival leaders.)

By the start of 2001, the rumors increased of the likelihood of a new series. The rumors were confirmed by February of that year, and the holders to the rights for Battlestar Galactica, Studios USA, announced that Bryan Singer and his collaborative team were intent on maintaining the spirit of the Original Series. ...continued...

Fall of the Twelve Colonies - August 2008? - March 2009[edit]

The Fall of the Twelve Colonies (also known as the Cylon attack, Cylon holocaust or Second Cylon War) is a devastating, genocidal attack that re-ignites the conflict between the humans of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol and their creations, the robotic Cylons.

The Cylons compromise Colonial defenses by infiltrating their military and civilian society with models that look human. One such Cylon seduces the brilliant Dr. Gaius Baltar, fooling him into contract work that gives her access to the Colonial Defense Mainframe. Her work on the project compromises Baltar's Command Navigation Program, creating countless programmer backdoors. ...continued...

Cylon Civil War - March 2009 - June 2009[edit]

The Cylon Civil War is a conflict between two factions of humanoid Cylons. One faction consists of the Number Ones, the Number Fours, the Number Fives, and the Number Eight copy known as Sharon Valerii, under the leadership of the Number One copy known as Cavil. The opposition, known as the rebel faction, consists of the Number Twos, the Number Sixes, several Centurions with restored free will, and the majority of the Number Eights, under the leadership of the Number Six copy known as Natalie. Natalie is later slain, and leadership of the rebels is taken up by the restored Number Three copy known as D'Anna until she elects to remain behind on Earth for the rest of her days. ...continued...

Resurrection Ship - July 2009 - November 2009[edit]

A Resurrection Ship is a large vessel specifically dedicated to the "resurrection" of humanoid Cylons who are killed. Normally, upon death, their consciousnesses are downloaded into new identical bodies on the Cylon homeworld, but for humanoid Cylons located farther and farther away from home - such as those hidden within the human refugee fleet - this is not possible, as the download range of a humanoid Cylon is limited. For this reason, when the Cylons began pursuing the Fleet, they incorporated a Resurrection Ship at the center of their pursuit force, to provide their agents with a fallback position; if they were killed, their consciousnesses could be downloaded to new bodies without concern. ...continued...

Cylon Centurion Model 0005 - December 2009 - March 2010[edit]

The Cylon Centurion Model 0005, created and designed by scientists of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, is a model of Cylon used in various heavy to light labor and military applications until they rebelled, resulting in the first Cylon War. They are bipedal androids, with an average height of 6'6", composed of silver-chrome plating. The prototype of this model, U-87, was designed by Daniel Graystone, famed inventor of the holoband, 58 years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. ...continued...

The Twelve Colonies (RDM) - April 2010[edit]

The Twelve Colonies of Kobol are twelve distinct worlds, located in a remote part of their home galaxy. For about 2,000 years they were home to the human survivors of the Exodus of Kobol. After the settlement, the colonies slowly began to prosper and eventually gave birth to a race of cybernetic lifeforms, known as Cylons. Soon after their creation the Cylons raged a devastating war on their creators' home planets which ultimately led to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. ...continued...

  1. This is a Battlestar Wiki descriptive term.
  2. Colonel Briggs refers to Norman as "Mr. Blore" when questioning the people at Arnie's party in "The Night the Cylons Landed, Part II". The spelling is derived from the subtitles from the Region 1 DVD set.
