Welcome to Battlestar Wiki![edit]

Welcome to the Wiki, Jon_Doe. Feel free to tell us about yourself on your user page. Before you get started on other edits, please read the Battlestar Wiki:Standards and Conventions, which details the policies we use in editing pages (this differs from many other wikis in consistent use of phrasing, abbreviations, format, and the like).

Also, if you have any questions or suggestions you wish to offer, please feel free to do so either on your user talk page, the Wikipedian Quorum or Administrators' noticeboard. Remember to sign your posts on any talk pages using four tildes (~~~~)! We look forward to your contributions to the community!--Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 22:08, 1 June 2006 (CDT)

Regarding your edits to Galactica type battlestar[edit]

Your edits to not cite the information you change to page. Please either cite your source following the BW:SC and BW:CITE pages or do not change the page at all. This wiki does not allow Fandom related material to enter actual articles. They require their own page. Please read the Fandom page requirements. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from this wiki. --Shane (T - C - E) 10:38, 2 June 2006 (CDT)

Please can you stop changing pages to refer to Galactica as a Columbia type battlestar unless you can provide a canon source. --Mercifull 10:55, 2 June 2006 (CDT)

Jon, to clarify what Shane and Mercifull noted: the Battlestar Wiki is designed as an encyclopedia on characters, situations, names, and other facts from official sources only. Official sources include aired episodes (not necessarily including deleted scenes), official news, and interviews from cast and crew. We do not include any unverified sources, including what constitutes as fan fiction. It's hard to figure this out, but don't be swayed from contributing. Just be sure you don't cite information from other wikis or from most web sites; they aren't reliable and make things up often for their own enjoyment. If you have other questions, do write us here or on the Administrators Noticeboard (the link is in your welcome notice, as well as the Citation Jihad, which references what are official sources, as well as our standards and conventions). Please make no further changes to this article unless you have a source for your information. You're new and appreciate any changes, but please respect our requests.--Spencerian 11:01, 2 June 2006 (CDT)

Article Deletion[edit]

I've deleted the article "Columbia class battlestar." This is fan fiction: In absolutely no aired episode has this term been used to describe the so-far unknown name of the ship class of which Galactica belongs to in the Re-imagined Series. The only mention of Columbia is in the Miniseries, and it is mentioned once and only by name with no other details. There is also a Original Series Columbia, but again this information has nothing to do with the Re-imagined Series. Please do not attempt to create or add further information on this battlestar or ship class in the article. If you have other information, please go to the Talk page for the central article and note it there for other contributors to review and concur. --Spencerian 11:23, 2 June 2006 (CDT)

Warning[edit]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Galactica type battlestar, you will be blocked from editing Battlestar Wiki. --Shane (T - C - E) 14:53, 4 June 2006 (CDT)

Your Account is Blocked Temporarily[edit]

Jon Doe, after reviewing your activity for the last 4 days and after repeated attempts to request your sources to the changes you continued to make to the Galactica type battlestar article (as well as an attempt to create a non-canon article on "Columbia class battlestar", which was deleted) I decided that the only course of action that might ilicit a response from you to our requests is to block your ability to edit the wiki for 2 days. Battlestar Wiki is NOT a repository for any fan fiction (except in a single article where external fiction is available: "Fan fiction"). Your actions are a form of vandalism that cannot be tolerated here.

Despite our information and queries on your edits, you continued to re-enter the fandom information without response to comments on your talk page. There are plenty of websites that other BSG fans enjoy to expand their enthusiasm of fan fiction, but Battlestar Wiki is not one of these sites. Please respond to our comments on your sources for "Columbia" sometime after Wednesday and we'll be happy to hear you out; maybe you know something we don't. However, we must hear from you to consider your changes as canon to the new series. --Spencerian 17:27, 4 June 2006 (CDT)
