- We may never know, unless we see a Viper Mark I in the planned Caprica spinoff series with the first battlestars. Anything else is speculation, but obviously the ships were added to add some remote level of connectivity to the Original Series. However, since the 1978 series uses fanciful weapons as opposed to the bullets and missiles of the 2004 series, we'll need to wait before speculating more.
